Concept Stage

The Game Changer!

Everything starts with an idea, a concept that hopes to improve something and make it more user-friendly, while in the same time maintaining the design simple and attractive. 3D printers that can be found on the market today differ in size, shape, design, mechanisms they use, and of course in price. As time goes on 3D printers are becoming prevalently consumer products. Soon many stores will go bankrupt because it will be possible to inexpensively print anything you need, from parts of your washing machine that need replacement to toys for your kids. The only problem is that if you use a small printer you can’t print large items without losing quality, and on the other hand, if you use a large printer you can’t place it on your office desk or in your kitchen but you rather have to place it in your garage or workshop.
Obviously there is still a loot of room for improvement, and we are the ones who made a giant leap forward. We have thought long and hard about the possible improvements, about a concept of an EXPANDABLE 3D Printer. What would it look like, how would it operate, how much would it cost, and what size would it be. In the same time it would have to look cool and exquisite, but to be a functional direct drive that can print so many materials that you will use it on everyday basis! Finally we put everything on paper, from characteristics and features to design. We made beautiful hand drawings of the concept, and that was the moment we knew we were on to something big, something that will completely change the landscape of the consumer 3D printing industry. We have seen so many challenges in this design but we were, and we are ready to overcome all of
them!

Expandable 3D Printer

After finishing the concept and the 3D model it was time for some real CAD - engineering models with complete functionality. You can see those in the video above you containing some cool animations that demonstrate how the printer works.

It wasn’t difficult to find a team of experienced experts in their respective fields, from project management and marketing to engineering and design, and today they are more than team members to me. Having a great team is crucial for your business to succeed, and it is even more important to start-ups. Start-up members must be willing to work for free until they get funded. All team members must be motivated by
small steps and small victories in the product development. They need to take risks without losing motivation that they will doubtlessly succeed, because they are making something new, something that will completely change the 3D printing market. In case they fail, they will still live with the thought that they have tried!

Idea was there, concept sketches were ready, and we could proceed to the CAD phase and make some nice renderings. First models were promising, but they were not so similar to the original concept. Something was missing-this was just a box, and honestly me as a designer would have never bought it.
